My favorite RPG developer ever tri-Ace is missing. Hope they have something in store to announce. Valkyrie Profile 3 or Star Ocean 5. Bring it on!!!!

    better than e3

    • http://xcite79.1up.com Keegs79

Better than E3? In my opinion that is a huge no. At E3 we got Beyond: Two Souls and Watch Dogs, and Star Wars 1313 which were never shown until E3. We got a great look at The Last of Us. The first glimpse of Wii U. If I remember right we also got are first glimpse of the next God of War and at least a big glimpse of the upcoming Assassin’s Creed games. E3 blew away TGS.

      • Marco Tinè

The E3 offered glimpses of the future, while the TGS showed off games that are at hand, or almost: what about Yakuza 5 (easily on track to become one of the best games of this generation), Metal Gear Rising, Phantasy Star Online 2 and Dragon Quest X, the wonderful Puppeteer, and the avalanche of interesting 3DS games? It was a show with its feet on the ground, okay, but far from a poor one.

        • Vampiric

          E3 had a shitty future.

All the games were beyond generic

tgs is where the real magic games are

      • http://soundcloud.com/tet-chan TetsuyaHikari

Yeeeeah… I couldn’t give a rat’s ass about Beyond: Two Souls, Watch Dogs, or a Star Wars game. I’ll give you The Last of Us. That does actually look interesting, but that was the ONLY thing of interest I found at E3.

        TGS had:

Ryu ga Gotoku 5, Dai-2-Ji Super Robot Taisen OG, E.X. Troopers, God Eater 2, Phantasy Star Online 2, Monster Hunter 4, Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix, Ace Attorney 5… Do I need to go on? I didn’t think so.

This is why I ALWAYS prefer TGS over E3. They just have so much more that is appealing to me.

      • PrinceHeir

i think it comes down to preference.

some people love E3, some love TGS.

        so it’s all preference :P

i do like TGS though, less advertising, pop bullshit and more onto games :)

      • http://twitter.com/Astearica Astrid Huang

It’s just a matter of opinion.
If you like japanese games, you’ll choose TGS.
If you’re more into western games, then it’ll be E3.

  • http://twitter.com/Skyer7 Skyer Ist

    amazing. wanna visit tgs(((

  • http://twitter.com/StarNox70 Nicole DeCambre

So, in other words, nothing of great significance occurred this year.

Sadly, TGS is becoming more & more uneventful each year, moving forward.

  • ShinobiMuramasa

Great summary! Thanks for posting all of this!

  • InsaneChronos

Worst TGS in years. Anyway, thanks for the summary.

    • http://soundcloud.com/tet-chan TetsuyaHikari

You really fit your name. You would have to be insane to think this was the worst in years. Finally having GAMEPLAY footage of Dai-2-Ji Super Robot Taisen OG made TGS for me even by itself. Don’t even get me started on the new E.X. Troopers footage and Ryu ga Gotoku 5!

This year was great for me~

      • InsaneChronos

Thank you for your appreciation of my name! But unfortunately this year’s TGS was a disappointment for me.

        • Genesis

I did find TGS a bit disappointing also. There were some games that I was happy seeing but I was expecting a lot of things.

          • http://soundcloud.com/tet-chan TetsuyaHikari

Again, WHAT WERE YOU EXPECTING? Ermahgerd.

I keep hearing this from different people. “I was expecting more.”, “I expected something else.”, “I was expecting a lot of things.”, etc.

Just exactly what did you have in mind? What would TGS2012 need to include for you to be happy with it? Sometimes I swear you guys have totally unreasonable expectations. It reminds me of the guys that have the gall to diss games such as ‘Metal Gear Solid 4′, ‘Gran Turismo 5′, or ‘Final Fantasy XIII’ and claim their graphics are weak.

By whose standards?! What the hell could they possibly be comparing it to in order to say something like that? Lol. The same thing can be applied here with TGS. What exactly are you comparing it to which makes you say you were expecting more than this and that you were disappointed?

            • http://twitter.com/StarNox70 Nicole DeCambre

Compared to previous years where new games such as Bayonetta, the new DmC & The Last Guardian were announced, this year was just plain awful. No surprises, no new tech being demonstrated on the floor (Wii U doesn’t count as it has already been showcased elsewhere), no PS Vita marketing push. Instead, we get a slimmer, more mechanical PS3 that’s more expensive, the only Vita game most people are looking forward to being delayed, & a Wii U exclusive Bayonetta.

I’m sorry, but besides the KH HD collection (that we’ll probably won’t get to play until PS4 comes out), there wasn’t really anything for the average gamer to look forward to.

              • http://soundcloud.com/tet-chan TetsuyaHikari

So, let me get this straight. You have to see new announcements for games in order to be impressed? You weren’t impressed by the additional footage we got from games that are coming out soon? I don’t know about you, but I was more than hyped when seeing actual gameplay footage for the new Super Robot Wars game for PS3, even though it wasn’t a newly announced game and I had watched the previous trailers multiple times already.

Not to mention, we got to see demo gameplay of Ryu ga Gotoku 5, trailers and Vita gameplay footage for God Eater 2, as well as a new trailer for E.X. Troopers. Let’s not forget the gameplay footage for Shin Hokuto Musou and new trailer for Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle as well! Just because new games aren’t announced doesn’t mean it is dull. That would be like saying:

“I’m not going to watch this boxer fight any more because I’ve already seen how he fights. This is boring now.”

There are plenty of events you can go into where you know what to expect, yet you are still thoroughly happy when seeing your thoughts become a reality. I knew there was going to mainly just be footage for games I am waiting for, but dammit I’d be lying if I said TGS didn’t make me more hyped for the games, heh.

            • Genesis

This years TGS was lackluster “IN MY OPINION”. That’s the beauty of opinions, we all have our own and not everyone will like what you like. I couldn’t care less if someone didn’t like something that I was interested in…That’s their business and their preference. Im not going to get all worked up and start a debate over someone else’s opinion. Many things weren’t memorable for me like in previous years. The most memorable things for me were TOX2, MGR, E.X. Troopers, Remember Me, JoJo and Muramasa and etc. coming to the Vita. If you liked it, good for you. I didn’t enjoy it and I was expecting better announcements than some that were presented.  Please save the whole comparisons to the video games for someone else because they have nothing to do with my disappointment in this years TGS. ^_^ Ciao.

              • http://soundcloud.com/tet-chan TetsuyaHikari

And yet you STILL didn’t answer the question as to HOW this could have been better for you. You just keep dodging that question by saying, “I was expecting…”, “I was disappointed”, etc.

Not ONCE have you said what would have made it better. It’s fine and all if you want to voice your opinion, but the least you could do is tell us WHY you were disappointed. I mean, come on.

It’s like taking your family for a vacation to a cabin for the weekend, then when you arrive, saying, “This wasn’t as good as I expected it would be.” WHY isn’t is as good as you expected it to be? WHAT were you expecting exactly?

See what I mean? I’m just trying to understand your opinion, that’s all. Anybody can simply dismiss something as being unsatisfactory, but it makes more sense when they fill in the blanks X3

        • http://soundcloud.com/tet-chan TetsuyaHikari

Lol. I’m quite curious to know just exactly what your expectations are set at. I mean, what would they have needed to show for you to be pleased with this year’s TGS?

          And don’t say Versus, lol.

          • InsaneChronos

I was expecting some huge announcement or presentation. Versus aside, there is Ground Zeroes, new Zone of the Enders, Project Ogre, FFXHD, The Last Guardian, Demon Tribe, and many more projects in development. Why they didin’t show this projects? This is the disappointment. Bayonetta 2 and some other anouncements was cool, but I was hoping see more. Anyway, what problem do you have with my disappoitment? О_о

      • HarryHodd

Best thing for me was KH remix.

  • PrinceHeir

Gematsu why are you soooo awesome :)

thanks for this i can see what have i missed out :)

    • http://gematsu.com/ Sal Romano

      I don’t know.

I just wake up like this.

      ;-)

      You’re welcome!

  • KingKellogg The Waffle Haggler

Only good thing was kh 1.5

  • KingOptimusOrigins111

Good thing I liked about TGS was God Eater 2 PS Vita, Soul Sacrifice, Phantasy Star 2 on PS Vita, FF XIV PS3 Footage, Yakuza 5, PS Store redesign, Gravity Rush 2 teased, Ninja Storm 3 trailer, Yaiba Ninja Gaiden Z, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus on PS Vita, & most important one that saved TGS 2012 was Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix coming exclusively to PS3.

Next year hope these two games are their:

    oops double post.

  • ekka4shiki

I was expecting some kind of trailer/teaser of LRFFXIII making an appearance on SE open mega theater, but i guess i was expecting too much for a game that only been announced. Looking forward to Jump Fiesta then :/

  • EspadaKiller

Nothing much this year, but at least there’s quite a few Vita titles announced. And it’s nice to see gameplay footage of upcoming games too.

Gonna bet next year’s TGS will be so much better, especially with next gen coming next year ;)
