This Week’s Japanese Game Releases: Samurai Shodown, Super Mario Maker 2, more

Samurai Shodown and Super Mario Maker 2 highlight this week’s lineup of Japanese video game releases.

A reboot of the 1993-launched fighting game series, Samurai Shodown is built on Unreal Engine 4 and features 16 playable fighters. Consumers who purchase the game within the first week of release will receive the Season Pass free of charge, which includes four additional characters to be released in August, October, December, and February 2020, respectively. One of those four characters is Rimururu.

As for Super Mario Maker 2, the sequel to the stage creation-based Wii U and 3DS title for Switch includes a plethora of new elements, including new course parts, tools, and features, a new story mode, new course themes, a Super Mario 3D World style, and more.
