Square Enix has updated the official Japanese website for Dragon Quest Builders 2 with information and screenshots of the recently introduced Occulm Island story arc and its residents.

A land of new adventure, Occulm Island is a mining island that once had a major gold rush!
In search of a way to build metal objects, the protagonist heads for the new island of Occulm. Although its surface is covered in dry sand, it is said that below the island a bounty of ores such as gold and silver can be mined, and that it once flourished due to a gold rush.

—There are many mines dug deep below the island.
There may be valuable treasures waiting at the end of the mines dug deep below the island.
—Discover a magical underground lake within the mines!
—What treasures lie in wait in the mysterious ancient temple that rises in the depths of the earth!?
The island’s inhabitants have lost their motivation. Cheer them up and restore life to the mines!
While it is said that Occulm Island once prospered due to a gold rush, everything has gone downhill since the mines closed. All of the mines have gave way and the island is no longer a place for making metal objects. Cheer up the townspeople and restore life to the mines. And the source of the ruffian energy in the mines is having time to unwind at the bar!

The Residents of Occulm Island

She was once the show girl for the town’s bar. She wants the townsmen who once were full of energy restored, and the mines and bar rebuilt.

A ruffian miner. He came to town with his partner Mills to help Pero. He is good at mining ores, but a weakling when it comes to fighting monsters.

A man once known as an excellent blacksmith. With the Hargon Order’s ban on building, his blacksmith business has come to a halt.
Troublesome Monsters Await in the Mines!
Monsters wander about in the mines. Be careful as you explore, as there are monsters that will jump out from the ground or use poisonous attacks.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 is due out for PlayStation 4 and Switch on December 20 in Japan.
