■ Characters
Hajime Anjo (voiced by Ryouta Yano)
A cafe owner who provides shelter for Arata, who is on the run as a cyber terrorist. He knows all about the occult, and studies supernatural phenomena while running the cafe. The mysteries that occurred “World’s Odyssey” also have elements of the “occult” and “urban legends,” and Hajime will provide hints to solving them.
Senji Hizumi (voiced by Yuuji Kameyama)
A detective of the Sagami Police Department in pursuit of Arata, who is on the run as a cyber terrorist. His villainous appearance and crude behavior cause those he deals with to tremble, but his true nature is one overflowing with a sense of justice. As a detective, he follows many causes, but there also seems to be a case he is personally following.
■ System
◆ Battle Flow
Death end re;Quest uses a turn-based command battle system. At the start of a character’s turn, they can freely move around the battlefield. Each character’s specialty attack range differs, so the enemy’s location should be considered when moving for skillful positioning, allowing for strategic battles to unfold.
—When selecting a command, you can use the “Tri-Act” system to select three actions at once, allowing players to construct strategies with an even higher level of freedom.
—By registering actions you frequently use to the basic “Action” commands, you can start any action in an instant. (You can register actions from the menu screen.)
Point #1: Field Bugs
Bugs called “Field Bugs” will occur on the field. If a character touches a Field Bug, it will capture them, and in addition to debuffs, the character’s bug “Contamination Level” will increase.
—When a character’s Contamination Level exceeds a certain amount, they will transform into a powered-up “Glitch Style,” but when the Contamination Rate exceeds a certain limit beyond that, they will be unable to take action, so there is a big risk involved. Whether you avoid Field Bugs and fight soundly with a detailed strategy, or take the risk to hit the enemy with powerful attacks without restraint, you can battle with your preferred play style.
In order to remove troublesome Field Bugs, you can use the “Knock Bug” system. Through the Knock Bug system, you can blow back both Field Bugs and enemies, and deal even more damage.
—When positioned at a disadvantage against the enemy, the Knock Bug system can be an effective evasive measure.
—Through skillful aiming when using the Knock Bug system, in addition to being able to deal more damage, party members that receive the blow-back will also be able to trigger a powerful cooperative followup counter technique called “Knock Blow.”
Point #2: Battle Jack
Programmer and protagonist Arata Mizunashi can use the “Battle Jack” system in order to exterminate all of the Field Bugs from the battlefield.
The Battle Jack system itself is comprised of three systems:
- Code Jack
- Summon
- Install Genre
By combining Battle Jacks that enable “Control of the Field,” you can defeat even strong enemies with ease.
—Code Jack
Code Jack is a system that allows you to change the conditions of the field. By making skillful use of this system based on the situation—such as changing the types of Field Bugs that occur, or increasing / decreasing Contamination Level—you can create new means of winning the battle.
—Summon
Through Summon, you can summon the Entoma you have captured onto the battlefield as Summons Bugs. Each Summons Bug has a unique support effect, such as raising party member stats or increasing Knock Bug range, which is nroamlly applied at the time the bug is summoned. A Summons Bug itself possesses mighty force, but in dire situations, a Summons Bugs’ support efefct will also be useful.
—Install Genre
Install Genre is a system that changes the very rules of the battle itself. It can be triggered during a party member’s turn, and the character’s action will switch to the selected genre. Each genre has set clear conditions, and by clearing those conditions, a powerful pursuit will follow.
Also, when there are Summons Bugs on the field, Install Genre can be combined with their support effect to further strengthen each genre, and a pursuit by the Summons Bug will also occur. By using these together, you can create an even more powerful method of attack.
The Battle Jack system is a powerful method of attack, but using it will restore Field Bugs to the battlefield. When there are too many Field Bugs on the battlefield, use of the Battle Jack system is restricted, so it is recommended you use it with skillful balance.
