Before it was picked up by Capcom, Dontnod Entertainment‘s Remember Me, formerly titled Adrift, was to be published by Sony Computer Entertainment as a PlayStation 3-exclusive game. That obviously didn’t fall through. But why? Dontnod creative lead Jean-Maxime Moris responds.
“The Sony deal was signed February 2010 and ended a year later. We were totally independent, and had no publisher, but we were looking for one,” Moris told Joystiq at Gamescom this week.
Asked what went wrong, he responded, “I won’t go into too many details, but basically they cancelled a bunch of projects, and we were just one of them. It felt bad at the time. And now, in retrospect, it’s just one step toward where we are now.
“It’s just the way things went,” he added.
Even so, Moris said that he’s “very happy” to be working with Capcom and that he believes Remember Me is a good fit for “the Capcom DNA.”
Remember Me is due for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC in May 2013.
