Dontnod's Adrift returns at Gamescom.

Capcom announced during its Gamescom press conference this morning an all-new IP from developer Dontnod Entertainment.

Set in Neo-Paris 2084, where personal memories can be digitized, bought, sold, and traded, Remember Me follows the story of Nilin, an “incredibly athletic” and martial arts-trained elite memory hunter, who has the special ability to break into people’s minds and steal or change their memories. However, the tables are turned as Nilin’s memories are erased, beginning her journey to “reclaim her identity” and “discover how she can change the world.”

If you remember Adrift, which Dontnod showcased concept art for at Gamescom last year, this is the same game with a new name.

Remember Me will launch for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC in May 2013. View the first screenshots and new artwork at the gallery. Watch the debut trailer and gameplay video below.

  • Awesome.
The bits of action looks like Batman’s freeflow combat system.
The setting looks like Deus Ex.
    Story and idea sounds interesting.
    Female Protagonist? Always welcomed.
Graphics don’t look appealing but I hope they can polish it more before release.
Definitely looking forward to see more of this game.

Agreed. We need more female protagonists in the video game industry.

  • I am a bit skeptical when it comes to new IP games from Capcom, since their recent new IPs such as Dragon’s Dogma and Asura’s Wrath are not exactly masterpiece and well-polished games. So far this game looks appealing, but I am a bit afraid on how well the end game turns out when it is released next year.

  • Wow

Look so Awesome And 2013 is gonna best Games Ever

I love new IP, especially that late into the console cycle. Quite honestly this looks about a hundred times more interesting than Watch Dogs. Here’s what I wrote on YT:

“My comment (looks 100x more interesting than Watch Dogs) is based on gameplay demos of  both games. Watch Dogs seemed pretty basic to me: gather information, hack some stuff to trigger a scripted event, take cover and shoot from cover. There was nothing interesting to me, but that’s just my personal opinion, as I prefer games with some depth to story and gameplay.

I guess Watch Dogs wowed so many as it was the highest profile new IP announcement and was show running on state of the art gaming hardware which I doubt many gamers can afford. In my humble opinion there will be lots of disappointed gamers once they slide the game disc into their 360 or PS3 tray. Anyone remember the backlash after DICE showed the first console gameplay footage on Jimmy Fellon after that initial high-end PC footage trailer? I guess history will repeat itself.”

I’m pretty excited for this game as French developers delivered some of the best games this generation. Besides, I’m a sucker for games with cool, strong, realistic female heroines as the player character. I totally dig Niin’s character design =)

Next year’s gonna be crazy in terms of new and high-quality game releases. If it’s really the swan song year for 360 and PS3 than at least my beloved White Sony Box will go out with a bang rather than with a whimper and our 360-playing friends will have lots of multi-platform love as well as Halo4 and Gears Judgment.

Awesome console generation that could go on for another 5 years as transitioning to a new console generation will be quite expensive (for publishers, devs, platform holders and us). As long as PS3 is gonna receive new quality games I’m not even gonna contemplate upgrading to PS4. Bought my PS3 December 2009 and did not regret buying it that late. Can wait for PS4 another 4 years ^^

guys, I like your re-designed gallery. It’s now way easier to save (and view) the hi-rez versions of the images.

I bought mine just this year. And just in time for next year, which is looking to be one of the best years in gaming.

      • 浪黒雷 (ro-kurorai)

Welcome to the Playstation Family. You, my friend, are the best example that it is not too late to buy a PS3 now and enjoy what it has to offer (read an article on ign, I think, that challenged that very notion) =)

Next year is really gonna be crazy. last of Us and Beyond are two high profile exclusives that certainly won’t disappoint judging by the respective developers’ track records. God of War Ascension will be even more accessible now after Sony announced the God of War Saga including every game in the gory OTT action series. I’m still convinced that next year will see the release of FFvXIII which could become the defining JRPG of this generation: in Nomura I trust.

It’s never too late to join in on the fun. Quite the contrary, late adopters got compilations of games series and older games at discounted prices.

        Please enjoy your time ;)

  • Charlie

It’s official, I am going to be poor for the entirety of 2013.

  • Locksus

Oh, so THIS is Adrift! I had been wondering where the game had disappeared but glad it’s coming out! I simply love cyberpunk and this looks awesome :)

Too bad it’s published by Capcom so we can expect day one DLC and such but that won’t stop me from buying the game day 1!

    • RmanX1000

Day 1 DLC is ok as long as its done right. But if its already on the disc… thats a different story,

  • I don’t have watch time to watch the videos at the moment (bunch of pre-Gamescom stuff coming out), but judging by the screenshots, the game looks pretty cool. Definitely digging the Neo-Paris setting. But I liked the name Adrift better.

Remember Me sounds too much like some romantic film.

    • 浪黒雷 (ro-kurorai)

Adrift definitely sounded superior, it fit the futuristic setting way better. Remember Me simply doesn’t resonate with me as a game title but I don’t care, Enslaved wasn’t awesome as a title either but the game still rocked.
Looking forward to Remember Me: french studio, futuristic setting, parkour, strong, believable female player character, d1p for me.

  • Genesis

I am really impressed…I will keep my eye on this

  • Rezar

This game looks so amazing that I will remember to preorder it and pick it up day one.

  • Malcolm Reynolds

    Very interesting looking game.

  • zakou

Finally i always wanted to make others commit suicide in video games and im not kidding xD day one!

  • Aldridge517

I don’t like it. I just finished watching Total Recall and this game looks like an exaggerated action cliche. The amnesia thing has been done a million times. The voice acting in the trailer was way over the top, to the point that it was comical. Graphics are unimpressive for this point in the gaming life cycle, the exact words that came to mind were “lacking polish”. Lip sync made me cringe and as far as gameplay mechanics go, there’s nothing new here.

I just can’t take this game seriously at all

    • Kobracon

lol when was the last Capcom game that could be taken seriously and had good voice acting? Actually….I can’t think of a capcom game with good VA. Its like another name for Capcom is apparently CampyCom

  • bebestorm117

    This looks Good!

  • That looks next gen to me. I think this will play like a less cartoony version of psychonauts

  • InternatlGamer3

I’m always interested in trying out new game experiences

  • DrForbidden

I really dislike the terrible voice acting for the lead. Just because she has an English accent doesn’t necessarily make her good, Crapcom. Other than that, what I’ve seen so far looks okay,  though it draws on very many scifi tropes and sources.

  • Kobracon

Oh Capcom, still slapping ‘Neo’ in front of names XD. Names aside it looks interesting at least. I’ll hold off judgement till i see more.

  • I finally watched all of this. I’ll keep it short and simple, from what I’ve seen in the above trailers, I think the game looks very promising.

I’m kinda surprised Capcom is supporting a new project like this, good for them. It’s nice to see new IPs get some support. I’ll be looking forward to learning more details about the game in the near future.
