Capcom is looking to build Remember Me, its newly announced IP from Dontnod Entertainment, into a “major franchise,” according to Capcom senior producer Mat Hart.
“We’re looking to build a long-lasting relationship with [Dontnod Entertainment] as a developer, and build [Remember Me] into a major franchise,” Hart told Joystiq at Gamescom.
Remember Me is due to launch on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC in May next year, a usually crowded season for game releases, which can be difficult for new IP.
“The thing is, if you leave it too late into next year, then you are starting to straddle that line where you’re starting to move into the next generation consoles,” Hart said. “And what we wanna do is make sure we launch this on the current generation of consoles, to really sell it in, and establish it as a new IP. And then build the franchise out in line with the new consoles coming out.”
