Fumito Ueda has left Sony Computer Entertainment Japan, Sony has confirmed to Gamasutra.
The confirmation comes following rumors late last month that the Ico creator had departed the company to pursue personal projects.
While Ueda is no longer working as a Sony employee, he is “committed to completing” The Last Guardian as a freelancer.
Ueda created two PlayStation 2 classics during his time with Sony: Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. The Last Guardian is set to be the third in his trilogy.
