Report: Microsoft to “serve hardcore” at E3
Microsoft will announce 10 new non-sequel Kinect games at E3 next month, Eurogamer has been told. The announcements “won’t be obvious” and are expected to “serve the hardcore,” according to two separate sources.
Additionally, Microsoft will announce sequels to already-released Kinect games, including Kinect Sports 2 from Rare and Dance Central 2 from Harmonix. Both scheduled for Christmas 2011, the latter is “highly likely” to be a timed exclusive.
Rare is also developing a second game for Kinect. Though still under wraps, it will not involve any of their established franchises, such as Banjo or Perfect Dark.
Two Kinect games from a developer who has already launched Kinect titles at retail will be announced. They’ve chosen to remain anonymous.
At the same time, a new Forza game titled Forza World is reportedly in development at the UK-based Playground Games, with former Codemasters producer Gavin Raeburn heading up the project. His LinkedIn profile lists him as “working on an unannounced AAA title for a major publisher.”
Adding what we’ve already heard, Microsoft is expected to announce a Halo: Combat Evolved remake, in development at Saber Interactive, for release in November 2011. The firm will also show off Terminal Reality‘s Star Wars Kinect, due out this Christmas.
Microsoft’s E3 press conference goes live in Los Angeles on Monday, June 6. Stay tuned.
