Source: Halo remake evolving this holiday
The oft-rumored remake of Halo: Combat Evolved is coming this holiday, if a source of JoyStiq‘s is correct. The game, which is a full visual overhaul of the original, complete with new art asssets and updated controls, is reportedly in development at New Jersey-based TimeShift developer, Saber Interactive. It’ll use an engine other than that of Halo: Reach.
The remake is likely to feature online co-op, updating from the original release’s limitation to two-player split-screen co-op. Other networking details are still being sketched out, said the source.
Apparently, this Combat Evolved remake is one of two Halo games currently in development under the eye of 343 Industries. We suspect the other to be the recently rumored Halo: Kinect.
The Halo: Combat Evolved remake is expected to launch on November 15, 2011, ten years after the release of the original game on Xbox.
