Bastion confirmed for Xbox LIVE Arcade, PC
Bastion, announced last year for downloadable platforms, has been confirmed as an Xbox LIVE Arcade and PC title. The action RPG will be published by Warner Bros. Interactive, who have officially announced the title this morning.
“We’re thrilled to be working with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on Bastion,” said Amir Rao, Studio Director of Supergiant Games. “Warner Bros. instantly saw the potential of our original game world and narrative style, and is providing Supergiant Games with the support and autonomy we need to make Bastion an amazing experience.”
Bastion puts player in the role of “the Kid,” a survivor of a cataclysmic event that shattered his world, as he’s faced with the task of reconstructing a safe haven for him and his loved ones. In doing so, players will confront strange beasts, create customizable weapons, and gain new powers from spirits.
It’ll debut on Xbox LIVE Arcade this summer, following a PC release later this year. As for a potential PlayStation Network release, Supergiant’s said that Xbox 360 and PC “are the only platforms we expect to support in 2011”, but beyond that, “anything goes”, coming down to “how much demand there is and what makes the most sense for us to do next”.
