ZeniMax Media has announced the acquisition of yet another studio this morning. This time, it’s Uppsala, Sweden-based developer MachineGames, established in 2009 by the founding members of Starbreeze Studios, the team behind both The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher’s Bay and The Darkness.
MachineGames is now working on an unannounced project for ZeniMax using id Software‘s id Tech 5 engine. The company’s CEO, Jerk Gustafsson, will oversee development on the title as executive producer.
“MachineGames has assembled a dedicated team that has extensive experience working together to produce quality games. We are excited to create a new AAA title for gamers on id Tech 5 that will push the game development envelope,” Gustafsson said.
“MachineGames shares our passion for creating ground-breaking gaming experiences,” said Robert Altman, Chairman and CEO of ZeniMax Media. “We are excited to have these accomplished industry veterans join ZeniMax Media’s group of world-class studios.”
In the past year, ZeniMax has acquired three studios: Arkane, Tango Gameworks, and now, MachineGames. Last year, they bought out id Software.
