Bethesda Softworks‘ Todd Howard has said that they’re done with Fallout 3 downloadable content, saying “I think we’ve put enough content out there for this game”.
Howard said that the development team split up into two after development of Fallout 3 completed. One half of the team went on to work on Bethesda’s next big project, while the other half worked on downloadable content for Fallout 3.
“About half the team goes on to the next big game. The other half, which is mostly a lot of artists and designers go on to DLC stuff.”
Originally, Bethesda planned to only create three chapters of downloadable content. However, after it went good from the first three, they decided to add more.
“We knew we wanted to do three initially and we’ll see where that goes. I kind of had in my mind that the upper limit was five. Part of that was what I think people are willing to continue to pay for a game. And a lot of that is our own internal bandwidth.”
Right now, you can get all the downloadable content on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace and PC. The PlayStation 3 content is still on the way, but it’ll all be made available by the time the Fallout 3: GOTY Edition releases.
