Branching Story
A tale of near-unprecedented volume and scale for a smartphone game! The player’s choices will make the story branch into vastly different outcomes.
Keywords
- Geas – Those who harness the power of their own memories to fight the enemies of humankind—the Barbaroi. They don the names of history’s legendary weapons—Arondight, Excalibur, etc. — inscribed upon them by their Resonants, and draw upon their spirit to gain extraordinary powers. Those with the potential to become Geas can do so after completing the rite of gestalt shift.
- Resonants – Individuals who have gestalt shifted and formed a life covenant with a Geas via emotional bond. They safeguard the memories of Geas, which are lost as they use their powers, by staying by their side and assisting them in their fight. A Resonant is often referred to as a Geas’ “Master.”
- Barbaroi – Demonic creatures of mysterious origin. These monsters threaten to wipe humanity from existence—they mercilessly hunt humans to feed upon their memories. They cannot be harmed by conventional weapons, and only the unique strength of Resonants and Geas is capable of defeating them.
- Gestalt Shift – A power by which two destined partners are bound as Resonant and Geas, if they fulfill their potential and their bond is strong. It is a ritual necessary for fighting the Barbaroi. Often referred to simply as “GS.” Gestalt shift has a “One Life, One Twain” rule—a person can only bound to one partner during their lifetime.
- Factorization – The act of transforming one’s body into a Geas—a powerful and specialized combat form. Only those who have learned to gestalt shift can perform this feat. Geas need to expend a tremendous amount of power to maintain their battle form. For this reason, they usually remain in their human form and factorize into battle form only when the need arises.
Characters
- Noir (voiced by Kentaro Shimoda) – The story’s protagonist. A serious young man with a strong sense of justice. Once a mercenary that fought against Logres, a strange twist of fate brings him across battle lines and into the Camelot Academy of Chivalry… He is known for the oversized, ornately adorned coat he always wears.
- Lancelot (voiced by Hayato Dojima) – A Knight of the Round Table who bears the title “Mightiest of Knights.” True to his moniker, his skills with a sword are without peer. He is calm and collected in critical situations and is widely admired for his courtesy and civility. It seems this is not the first time he and Noir have crossed paths…?
- Guinevere (voiced by Sachi Komiya) – Betrothed to the Kingdom of Logres’s reigning king, Arthur. Doted upon as a child, she is a bit selfish and has elegant tastes. She never puts on airs, being open and candid to the point of irreverence — no matter the company. Behind her bravado, however, lies a tender soul who cares deeply for her family and is quick to tears. Could her encounter with Noir on the battlefield prove to be a fateful one…?
- Dinatan (voiced by Misuzu Yamada) – Noir’s younger sister. Having lived through thick and thin alongside her brother since they were very young, she is a capable housekeeper with a caring nature. She is ever striving to put a smile on Noir’s face, like their late mother once did. She enrolls at Camelot Academy of Chivalry alongside Noir.
- Arthur (voiced by Koutaro Shinohara) – The sovereign ruler of the Kingdom of Logres and Headmaster of the Camelot Academy of Chivalry. He is also one of the Knights of the Round Table. He has a cheerful and friendly disposition, and treats all people the same regardless of station. He possesses a strong sense of duty and self-sacrifice, willingly charging into danger when his friends are in peril.
- Fiena (voiced by Saran Tajima) – A princess of a certain kingdom that is allied to Logres. She is open, friendly, and carries an air of innocence. She not only thinks of all her subjects as family, but even the animals in the nearby forests and hills. Much to the dismay of the lord and residents of the castle, she often brings home wild beasts, proclaiming cheerfully that she has “found new family.”
- Guinevere’s Handmaiden (voiced by Nichika Omori) – Guinevere’s handmaiden that hardly ever leaves her side and attends to her every need. Though generally kind and calm, if needs must she will leap into action for Guinevere.
- Arahant (voiced by Yui Horie) – A mysterious, cat-like creature that understands human language. In contrast with its cute appearance, it is rather snide. Supposedly, its duty is to guide the final Successor to their purpose, but no one knows exactly what that means.
