Clutch ‘Cinematic’ trailer, cast announced
Tosin Cole, Little Simz, Peter Serafinowicz, and more to star.
Maverick Games has released the cinematic trailer for newly announced open-world action driving game Clutch</em, revealing the game’s “star-studded cast.”
“At its heart, Clutch is about the bond between driver and machine, and the lengths we’ll go to protect the people who matter most,” said Maverick Games founder and creative director Mike Brown in a press release. “We’ve injected real emotional stakes into every race, chase and getaway because we believe action-driving games can make players feel more than speed alone. Clutch combines cinematic storytelling, high-stakes action and a deeply personal journey to create a new kind of open-world driving experience brought to life by this incredibly talented cast.”
Here is an overview of the game, via Maverick Games:
The immersive narrative in Clutch puts players in the driver’s seat as Theo Martial, played by Tosin Cole (Supacell, Doctor Who), a heroic driver living a double life competing in elite sanctioned racing by day, and descending into an underground street racing scene by night. Alongside his sister Cass Martial, played by Little Simz (Top Boy, Venom: Let There Be Carnage), Theo must shed light on a shadow cast over the French Riviera and its iconic racing scene. Additionally, actors Peter Serafinowicz (Guardians of the Galaxy, Shaun of the Dead), Gregory Montel (Call My Agent!, The Killer), Kieron Moore (Boots, Code of Silence) and Jane Perry (Returnal, HITMAN) will take on leading roles in Clutch‘s cinematic story written by acclaimed Skins co-creator Jamie Brittain.
The stage of Clutch is set during the Riviera 1000 (R1K) racing tournament, the single most prestigious event in all motorsports. Star driver Theo Martial (Tosin Cole) is on track to round out his extraordinary rise to success under the tutelage of his adoptive father, previous R1K superstar Ludo Martial (Gregory Montel). But in the final moments of the race, a terrible accident occurs, changing the course of the R1K and the dreams of Theo, Ludo and Theo’s sister, teammate and rival, Cass (Little Simz). George McBride (Peter Serafinowicz), the custodian of the R1K, shocks the racing world by announcing the introduction of a new technology to ensure this tragedy is never repeated. A divide among R1K drivers leads Theo to the Midnight Collective, an underground street racing subculture lighting up the streets of the French Riviera. Trouble continues to tail Theo, and when he seeks the help of fixer Emery Whitman (Jane Perry), the underbelly of the R1K is smashed wide open. Players must use their thirst for speed, and ingenuity to break the rules, uncover clues and getaway in style to unmask those really pulling the strings.
Clutch‘s expansive open-world world is inspired by the iconic and glamorous Mediterranean coastline of the French Riviera. Featuring miles of diverse roads and terrain, players will weave through vibrant city streets, conquer dramatic mountain switchbacks and unleash top speed on breathtaking coastal highways. From professional racing to action-packed underground race-and-chase sandbox gameplay, every road offers new opportunities for rivalry, pursuit and escape in a world where speed and style collide.
In Clutch, players will compete for position, reputation and rewards while navigating shifting alliances, escalating pursuits and rival crews across a living player-versus-player-versus-environment action-driving world. The open-world sandbox unleashes blockbuster action and unscripted chaos in every high-speed getaway. Clutch‘s proprietary physics engine and deep vehicle personalization system allow players to build cars defined as much by identity and style as raw performance. Players can create a true one-of-one car and the ride of their dreams in Clutch, being rewarded equally for both creative flair and finishing position.
Clutch is due out for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC in spring 2027.
