PlayStation Japan x YOASOBI ‘PLAYERS’ PlayStation 30th anniversary commercial
New song based on 30 years of PlayStation memories.
Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Asia has released a special commercial in commemoration of PlayStation‘s 30th anniversary, which it celebrated on December 3, 2024, featuring the new song “PLAYERS” written by Japanese pop duo YOASOBI.
The concept of the commercial, which is the result of the “Project: MEMORY CARD” initiative, is “saving PlayStation memories in music.” The new song was written based on the PlayStation memories sent in to Sony Interactive Entertainment by users, all of which have been collected via a special website. The song itself is available now via various streaming services.
In the commercial, characters Maru (actor Nanase Nishino), Peke (Virtual YouTuber Usada Pekora), and Ki-3 (game streamer KIYO) are messing around in Maru’s grandfather’s shop when they uncover a mysterious Memory Card. Plugging the Memory Card into an original PlayStation starts their journey along the “Play Has No Limits” railway, where they through game worlds like a roller coaster ride.
