■ Characters
Blake
The commander of “SPEU”, organized to counter the threat of the Slitterheads. An elite with experience in the Marines, he makes decisive and at times, ruthless judgements to fulfill his objectives.
Betty
An elderly, wealthy woman, living in a mansion with a panoramic view of the city from the hillside. She suffers from leg ailments and always carries a cane, a keepsake from her late husband. She appears as if she has been waiting for Hyoki to come before her, greeting him with enigmatic messages.
Lisa
Coming from a troubled past, Lisa is the only nurse working at Alex’s illegal clinic. She knows that Alex disappears into the night hunting Slitterheads, and worries for him.
■ Blake Skills
Bloody Shot (Active)
Generates a machine gun out of blood to attack the enemy. While holding down the skill button will allow continuous fire, it will massively deplete your blood level.
Bloody Mine (Active)
Converts blood pools into landmines within a set area. When foes step on them, it will detonate and deal critical damage.
Bloody Gamble (Common)
Attack the enemy with a handgun of blood. Hold the Skill button for continuous fire. While each shot increases in power, if your luck runs out, it may misfire and cause damage to you.
■ Betty Skills
Indomitable (Active)
Temporarily increases Betty’s defense by a significant degree and makes it harder to stun her. Damage bonus for hitting an enemy in mid-attack.
Diabolic (Active)
Converts blood pools into blades within a set area in front of her to damage enemies. Damage increases if multiple enemies are hit at same time.
Lunatic (Common)
Plants thoughts in host to continuously attack nearby enemies. Even if possession is withdrawn, attacks will continue until the effect ends.
■ SPEU
”SPEU” was formed in response to the growing threats posed by the Slitterheads. While their primary focus is on eradicating these creatures, their mission has expanded to include any unknown threats, which means that humans who appear to be ‘Possessed’ are also on their blacklist.
Some members hold shields which can almost completely negate frontal attacks, as well as “jamming” personnel who can temporarily seal blood weapons being made and skills being used. They stand as formidable adversaries against Hyoki.
■ Memory Fragments
During exploration, “memory fragments” can be found. Lost memories or objectives will return, and some abilities might even be regained.
■ Shrines
“Shrines” are placed in locations around the city. It is up to you to take on the challenge. While the enemies within are formidable, you will be rewarded items if you overcome the trials. You can see if there is a shrine in a mission on the Mission Menu, so take your most reliable Rarities with you.
■ Change Costumes
You can swap Rarities’ costume and mask in the Intermission Menu. While you can collect these throughout the game, it will be difficult to acquire all of them.
■ The Overwhelming Power of Slitterheads
In the shadows and bustle of Kowlong lurks the enigmatic creature known as the Slitterhead, monstrous creatures that prey on human brains. In contrast, the spirit entity known as Hyoki, exists solely to eliminate every Slitterhead. As the fight unfolds, secrets about this world will be revealed, intertwining the fates of both humans and creatures in a narrative that gradually unveils the complexities of humanity itself.
Slitterheads are mysterious creatures lurking in Kowlong, posing a threat to civilization. After consuming a human brain, they mimic the head and animate the corpse to disguise themselves as humans.
When preying on humans, they take on a “Pupal Form,” with the human head replaced by a grotesque visage, extending tentacles to target their prey’s brain. Slitterheads acquire memory and genetic information from the human brain, allowing them to imitate personalities. Each Slitterhead’s behavior varies, ranging from aimlessly wandering the streets to manipulating humans at the core of large organizations.
—Pupal Form
When the human body they inhabit suffers damage, they switch to a new victim’s body. However, they cannot operate independently or for long periods away from a host.
When they sense danger, they absorb the host’s bodily fluids to grow into a “Complete Form,” exposing their true nature and significantly increasing their power. They have integrated genes from various mimetic organisms, including insects, fish, and mollusks, resulting in a diverse range of appearances. While they primarily adopt a mantis-like posture, they can alter their form based on the situation, standing upright on two legs or climbing through gaps like a spider.
