Mojang Studios will release a native PlayStation 5 version of Minecraft on October 22, the developer announced. A physical edition distributed by Maximum Entertainment, which includes 3,500 tokens of in-game currency, will also be available for $29.99.
The PlayStation 5 version will have a greater render distance while running at 4K resolution and 60 frames per second. It will also feature cross-play with all platforms where Minecraft: Bedrock Edition is available.
Users who own the PlayStation 4 version of Minecraft will receive the PlayStation 5 version as a free upgrade.
