Arranger: A Role-Puzzling Adventure launches July 25
Also available for iOS and Android via Netflix.Puzzle adventure game Arranger: A Role-Puzzling Adventure will launch for PlayStation 5, Switch, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store on July 25 for $19.99, developer Furniture & Mattress announced. It will also be available for iOS and Android for Netflix subscribers. A demo is available now for PC.
“Arranger could have been purely a stage-based puzzle game, or a dialog-driven visual novel, or even a comic book,” sid Furniture & Mattress co-founder David Hellman in a press release. “But it’s all those things in a unique and unprecedented format. Hence why it was necessary to coin a new genre designation, ‘role-puzzling.'”
Hellmn continued, “For the art, the particularities of the puzzle design and story inspired me to invent a new visual format. The world scenery is complemented by floating comic panels which highlight subjectivity and emotion, from horizon vistas to close-up details. These divergent ‘viewpoint shards’ were only possible because the gameplay grid is so regular, and because there is a narrative to build visuals around. Tomas’ score was a huge inspiration to me as I was drawing as well, capturing the whimsical and sometimes mysterious heart of this world. Players can see how all these elements combine into something cool and original in the game’s opening scenes which we’re offering in the demo.”

About
Arranger: A Role-Puzzling Adventure follows the story of Jemma, a small-town misfit on a journey of self-discovery. Venturing out beyond her stiflingly cozy confines, she finds an inspiring world—but also one ruled by fear, and a strange, immovable “static” force. Can she disrupt a culture of stagnation, and find a place to fit into it?
Gameplay takes place on a unique, interconnected “grid” that spans the entire world, snappily uniting movement, exploration, and combat. When Jemma moves, the world moves with her—creating both a playful sense of chaos, and a regular stream of small, thoughtful puzzles that twist and play with the central mechanic.
