“We are thrilled to help bring Aloft to players, a game that brings a fresh angle to the open-world survival genre, such as the perfect melding of concepts and mechanics in the use of wind and ecosystems,” said Funcom publishing director Ilya Salamatov in a press release. “Collaborating with the talented team at Astrolabe has been a truly inspiring journey, and we can’t wait for players to explore their enchanting world in the sky.”

Players can dive into the enthralling skies of Aloft today thanks to a brand-new demo on Steam, featuring up to eight-player cooperative. Multiplayer functionality is available until June 17, after which the demo will remain for solo play. Burst above the clouds for a glimpse at Aloft in today’s new trailer.
Aloft is the cooperative sandbox survival game where you soar freely through a beautiful world of floating islands, each with its own living ecosystem. Build a home and a helm, and transform any island into your own personal skyship to set sail for the ever-present hurricane in the distance.
Harness the winds to automate machinery and production, explore islands to find new technology, and seek out seeds and animals to create your own cozy farm in the clouds. In dark places you will find a spreading corruption of mushroom creatures. Defeat them in combat, cure the islands, and restore their ecosystems.
Aloft‘s new demo expands significantly upon the previous one, adding up to 8-player co-op, along with several new features. Find Frescoes, repositories of ancient knowledge, and come across mysterious ruins and shipwrecks to gain new blueprints. For you to thrive in Aloft, so must the nature around you. Heal and strengthen each island’s ecosystem to guard against the spreading fungus corruption.
