Furniture & Mattress has announced puzzle adventure game Arranger: A Role-Puzzling Adventure for PlayStation 5, Switch, and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store). It will launch in 2024.
Arranger: A Role-Puzzling Adventure is brought to life by “David Hellman’s (Braid) unique painterly art style, Nick Suttner’s (Carto) sassy writing, and Nicolas Recabarren’s (Ethereal) delightfully clever puzzles.” It also features music from composer Tomás Batista (Per Aspera).
“We started talking about this project on March 10th, 2020, so obviously a lot has changed in the world since then,” Furniture & Mattress co-founder Nick Suttner said in a press release. “But we’ve done the best we can to stay positive in a challenging environment in which to make games, and to create something beautiful, breezy, and memorable that stays true to each of our sensibilities. While we’ve all been in games for a while, this was a milestone project for all of us—my first time working on a game from start to finish, Nico’s first time shipping a full-scope game across multiple platforms, and David’s first full game project since Braid. Thanks to anyone who gives it a shot, it means a lot to us!”

About
Arranger: A Role-Puzzling Adventure follows the story of Jemma, a small-town misfit on a journey of self-discovery. Venturing out beyond her stiflingly cozy confines, she finds an inspiring world—but also one ruled by fear, and a strange, immovable “static” force. Can she disrupt a culture of stagnation, and find a place to fit into it?
Gameplay takes place on a unique, interconnected “grid” that spans the entire world, snappily uniting movement, exploration, and combat. When Jemma moves, the world moves with her—creating both a playful sense of chaos, and a regular stream of small, thoughtful puzzles that twist and play with the central mechanic.
