Green Hell studio announces sci-fi co-op first-person shooter Chimera for PC
Crosses base building, exploration, combat, and resource management.Green Hell developer Creepy Jar has announced Chimera, a science-fiction cooperative first-person shooter that blends base building, exploration, combat, and resource management. It will be available for PC via Steam. A release date was not announced.
“In Green Hell, we focused on inserting all the best gameplay elements of the survival genre as possible and we challenged ourselves to make them even better,” said Creepy Jar founder and CEO Krzysztof Kwiatek in a press release. “Looking to improve upon what we’ve learned over the past five years, we aim to apply the same technique—along with the new technical opportunities coming from Unreal Engine 5—in order to elevate Chimera to new heights.”
Creepy Jar game director MIchal Stawicki added, “We want to spice up what players think they know about base-building and add our own special touch alongside our now expansive knowledge of the survival genre. And just like we did with Green Hell, we’ll tap into the most important resource we have—our players and community—to expand and enhance the game when it releases in Early Access.”

Here is an overview of the game, via Creepy Jar:
A compelling first-person shooter where the player takes control of one of four characters—alone or in up-to-four-player cooperative play—Chimera is an ambitious cross between base building, exploration, combat, and managing resources on an alien but oddly familiar terraformed planet torn by a catastrophic cycle of destruction caused by its titular star.
Chimera is a story of man versus nature set against an otherworldly and breathtaking science-fiction environment where elemental cataclysms of extreme heat and cold loom as a constant danger. The player takes up the mantle as a convict exiled from the Earth to serve their sentence by mining and expanding industrial production alongside researching new technology on a seemingly hospitable new planet rife with mystery and danger. Tasked with surviving the waves of fiery inferno or extreme cold—not to mention facing down against hostile enemy monsters in tense combat—each cycle spells destruction yet ushers in a new era of growth and rebuilding. Whether solo or as part of an up-to-four-player cooperative experience, players will explore, adapt, mine, gather resources, and build complex machinery in order to survive and prosper.
The team at Creepy Jar is no stranger to natural law, order, and destruction. Green Hell is a notoriously rigorous test of survival in the Amazonian rainforest, where your only hope to overcome the rampant plant or wildlife is your nerve and understanding of all the systems at play. In Chimera, Creepy Jar is ready to build upon what they’ve learned and accomplished alongside exploring new territory to challenge players even further.
Though by definition it is a base-building simulator, Chimera is much more. The game will invite players to push beyond, to stay resilient and sharp against every assault, building and forming prior to the cycling eviscerating conditions on an otherwise beautiful planet. For fans of builders, management, sci-fi action, and combat Chimera will challenge all comers to utilize the technology at their fingertips and weather both the extremities and fierce enemies in order to survive and create a prosperous industrial complex.
