Rumor: PlayStation Showcase 2023 to air within next few weeks
Reportedly set for week of May 21 or earlier.Sony Interactive Entertainment will host a PlayStation Showcase event within the next few weeks, according to sources of journalist Jeff Grubb and news outlet Video Games Chronicle.
According to a tweet from Grubb, the current timing of PlayStation Showcase is the “week of May 25.” In a follow-up tweet, Grubb said, “I said ‘week of May 25’ because that’s probably the latest that week it could happen. But it could happen earlier. I just don’t want to say week of May 21 and then people get mad when it doesn’t happen on a Sunday.”
According to Video Games Chronicle, citing “people with knowledge of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s plans,” the next PlayStation Showcase will take place either at the end of May or in early June. Owner and editor Andy Robinson also tweeted that the showcase will include new content from Konami.
The last PlayStation Showcase was held in 2021, and saw the announcements of Marvel’s Wolverine, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic – Remake, among other titles.
Prior to that, a PlayStation Showcase was held in 2020, where Final Fantasy XVI, Hogwarts Legacy, and God of War Ragnarok were announced. And a similar event was held several months prior, where Gran Turismo 7, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Horizon Forbidden West, Forspoken, and many other titles were announced.
