Touhou Project rhythm game due out in 2023.Unknown X will release Touhou Project rhythm game Touhou Danmaku Kagura: Phantasia Lost for Switch alongside its previously announced PC (Steam) release in 2023, the developer confirmed.
The Campfire campaign for the game achieved its 15 million yen goal within 30 million, with more than 82 million yen pledged as of press time. It was thanks to this support that Unknown X was able to commit to releasing a Siwtch version.
THe game will also feature a new theme song by Japanese rock band Kishida Kyoudan & THE Akeboshi Rockets with composer Kayoko Kusano, as well as add additional language support, and implement both the Mitama Card Index and a Music Cover Art Index within the game.
The Campfire campaign will run through January 9, 2023, with additional stretch goals including a new rhythm action game mode and a possible physical release for Switch.
“We’re honored by the fan support to continue Danmaku Kagura in this new form on Steam and Nintendo Switch,” said Unknown X founder JYUNYA in a press release. “We haven’t just seen support from console and PC rhythm and Touhou fans, but also from players of the mobile version that told us this was the first time they ever paid for a game that wasn’t free-to-play!”
Here is a brief overview of the game, via Unknown X:
Touhou Danmaku Kagura: Phantasia Lost rose from the ashes of the shutdown of Danmaku Kagura on mobile platforms. Tap notes to the beat as they fly down increasingly difficult note charts, with boss fights presenting particularly fiendish challenges for rhythm game fans. Enjoy controls adapted for controller or keyboard setups, with a brand new story mode exclusive to the new version written by Jin Fujisawa and Wakano Takeda of Story Note Co.
