Appirits will end service for the PlayStation 4 version of free-to-play RPG Kemono Friends 3 less than two months after its launch on June 6 in Japan, the company announced.
The PlayStation 4 version has been undergoing emergency maintenance for more than a month since June 16 due to a problem that prevented normal login, and has essentially only been playable for 10 days.
“While we have continued to deal with the problems that occurred on the operations side, we have determined that solving these problems would be extremely difficult and there is no realistic means for solving them,” Appirits said in a statement. “As a result of the situation, we have concluded that it will be difficult to continue providing service for the PlayStation 4 version, and will sunset service for this platform.”
Users who purchased items in the PlayStation 4 version of Kemono Friends 3 will be able to receive a full refund via a refund form that will go live at a later date.
Kemono Friends 3 first launched for iOS via App Store and Android vai Google Play on Sep 24, 2019 in Japan, followed by PC via DMM Games on March 25, 2020. It was originally published by SEGA.
