Cygames trademarks Akiba Maid War in Japan [Update]

Cygames filed a trademark for “Akiba Maid War” in Japan on May 10, which was made public today.

While the English text reads “Akiba Maid War,” the Japanese text “Akiba Meido Sensou” is a play on words, as the word “Meido” means “Netherworld,” but is pronounced the same as “Maid.”

Additionally, the domain name AkibaMaidWar.jp was registered on May 12. While the registrant information is private, Cygames is a safe assumption given the timing.

Cygames, which makes games, anime, manga, and more, has yet to announce a project with the title “Akiba Maid War.”
