PlayStation 5 has shipped 17.2 million units worldwide and PlayStation 4 has shipped 116.8 million units, Sony announced in its financial results for the three months ended December 31, 2021.
A total of 3.9 million PlayStation 5 units and 200,000 PlayStation 4 units were shipped during the three months ended December 31, 2021. PlayStation 5 shipments were down 0.6 million from the 4.5 million shipped during the same period the previous fiscal year, while PlayStation 4 shipments were down 1.2 million from the 1.4 million shipped.
Here are a couple of additional statistics:
- There are 48 million PlayStation Plus subscribers as of December 31, 2021, which is up 0.6 million from the 47.4 million subscribers during the same period the previous fiscal year.
- PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 software combined sold 92.7 million units in the third quarter of fiscal year 2021, which is down 11.5 million from the 104.2 million software sold during the same period the previous fiscal year. 11.3 million units were first-party titles, which is down 7.7 million from to the 19 million sold during the same period the previous fiscal year. 62 percent of software sales were full game software digital downloads, compared to 53 percent the previous year.
