Yoshinori Ono confirms move from DELiGHTWORKS to new company under Aniplex
What will remain of DELiGHTWORKS post-corporate split?Yoshinori Ono, who was appointed president and chief operating officer of DELiGHTWORKS back in April, will move to the new company under Aniplex that will succeed DELiGHTWORKS’ games business, he said in an official blog post.
“The development and operations staff, as well as myself, will move to the new company,” Ono said in the blog post. “Fate/Grand Order and other service titles will continue operations under the new company. We look forward to your continued patronage for many years to come.”
To recap, Aniplex recently announced it signed an agreement with DELiGHTWORKS to acquire all shares of a new company that will succeed DELiGHTWORKS’ games business through a corporate split, which is scheduled to be completed in spring 2022. This includes the Fate/Grand Order development team, which will be transferred to the new company along with DELiGHTWORKS’ other game operations.
To clear up any ambiguity, DELiGHTWORKS confirmed to Automaton Media that the entirety of its games business will be transferred to the new company.
In the DELiGHTWORKS press release for the announcement, Ono said that he would continue to make games, but it was unclear at the time whether this would be a DELiGHTWORKS initiative or under the new company. With today’s blog post confirming Ono will move to the new company, the only question that remains is will CEO and chairman Akihito Shouji also depart the company? And what business will DELiGHTWORKS do in the future? With its games business gone, its golf-centered sports business will be all that remains.
Thanks, Automaton Media.
