PlayStation 5 has shipped 13.3 million units worldwide and PlayStation 4 has shipped 116.6 million units, Sony announced in its financial results for the three months ended September 30, 2021.
A total of 3.3 million PlayStation 5 units and 200,000 PlayStation 4 units were shipped during the three months ended September 30, 2021. PlayStation 4 shipments were down 1.3 million from the 1.5 million shipped during the same period the previous fiscal year.
Here are a couple of additional statistics:
- There are 47.2 million PlayStation Plus subscribers as of September 30, 2021, which is up 1.3 million from the 45.9 million subscribers during the same period the previous fiscal year.
- PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 software combined sold 76.4 million units in the second quarter of fiscal year 2021, which is down 5.4 million from the 81.8 million software sold during the same period the previous fiscal year. 7.6 million units were first-party titles, which is down 5.2 million from to the 12.8 million sold during the same period the previous fiscal year. 62 percent of software sales were full game software digital downloads, compared to 59 percent the previous year.
