PlayStation 5 has shipped 10.1 million units worldwide and PlayStation 4 has shipped 116.4 million units, Sony announced in its financial results for the three months ended June 30, 2021.
A total of 2.3 million PlayStation 5 units and 500,000 PlayStation 4 units were shipped during the three months ended June 30, 2021. PlayStation 4 shipments were down 1.4 million from the 1.9 million shipped during the same period the previous fiscal year.
Here are a couple of additional statistics:
- There are 46.3 million PlayStation Plus subscribers as of June 30, 2021, which is up 1.3 million from the 45 million subscribers during the same period the previous fiscal year.
- PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 software combined sold 63.6 million units in the first quarter of fiscal year 2021, which is down 27.8 million from the 91.4 million software sold during the same period the previous fiscal year. 10.5 million units were first-party titles, which is down 8.2 million from to the 18.7 million sold during the same period the previous fiscal year. 71 percent of software sales were full game software digital downloads, compared to 74 percent the previous year.
