Koei Tecmo delays unannounced new IP for next-generation console(s) to fiscal year 2022
Company plans to leverage high performance of new console(s).Koei Tecmo has delayed the launch of an unannounced new intellectual property for next-generation console(s) to fiscal year 2022, which begins on April 1, 2022 and ends March 31, 2023, the company said in its latest financial presentation (English, Japanese).

The Five Million Copies Class Console Title
Launch time for the five million copies class console title (new IP) is pushed back to fiscal year 2022.
Reasons: To leverage high performance of the new generation console and to pursue quality worthy of five million copies class title.
Continue: Aim to create mobile title which generates 1 billion yen sales per month.
New: Aim to create two-to-five million copies class console titles in every fiscal year.
Koei Tecmo first announced plans to develop and release a title with sales of at least five million copies in April 2018 (English, Japanese). While the details were not confirmed at the time, Koei Tecmo president Youichi Erikawa told Nikkei Style in April 2020 regarding the five million copies title, “Right now, we are just about in the final stages [of development].”
