Sony's series of games starring Toro the cat.BeXide president and CEO Kazunori Nanji wants to create a new entry in the Doko Demo Issyo series for PlayStation 5, he told 4Gamer.net in an interview published on October 1.
Doko Demo Issyo is a series of communication-based games that began on the original PlayStation in July 1999 and star Toro Inoue, better known as the white cat mascot of Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Asia. The series is published by Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Asia and developed by BeXide.
The latest entry in the series is Toro and Friends: Onsen Town for iOS and Android, which launched in October 2019 and is published by Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Asia subsidiary ForwardWorks. The latest console games were Toro’s Friend Network for PS Vita in December 2011, Shuukan Toro Station for PlayStation 3 and PSP in November 2009, and Toro! Let’s Party! in July 2009.
The exchange between 4Gamer.net and Nanji is as follows:
4Gamer.net: Are there any new challenges you’d like to take on in the future for Doko Demo Issyo as an IP?
Kazunori Nanji: “Although I say I’d like to take on various challenges… what is it that I should do specifically? (Laughs.) One of the first things that comes to mind is that it would be nice if we could release a new Doko Demo Issyo title for PlayStation 5.”
4Gamer.net: If you release a new Doko Demo Issyo for PlayStation 5, is it possible new characters appear alongside it?
Nanji: “That would be really great.”
