PS4 worldwide shipments top 112.1 million
1.9 million PlayStation 4s shipped in three months ended June 30, 2020.Worldwide total shipments for PlayStation 4 have reached 112.1 million, Sony announced in its financial results for the three months ended June 30, 2020.
A total of 1.9 million PlayStation 4 units were shipped during the three months ended June 30, 2020, which is down 1.3 million from the 3.2 million shipped during the same period the previous fiscal year.
For its Game & Network Services Segment, Sony forecasts sales of 2,500 billion yen (approx. USD $23.5 billion) in sales and 240 billion yen (approx. USD $2.26 billion) in operating income for the fiscal year ended March 30, 2021, citing a “significant increase in game software sales” and “significant increase in hardware sales due to PlayStation 5 launch.”
Here are a couple of additional statistics:
- There are 44.9 million PlayStation Plus subscribers as of June 30, 2020, which is up 5.1 million from the 36.2 million subscribers during the same period the previous fiscal year.
- PlayStation 4 software sold 91 million units in the first quarter of fiscal year 2020, which is up 41.2 million from the 49.8 million software sold during the same period the previous fiscal year. 18.5 million units were first-party titles, which is up 6.8 million from to the 11.7 million sold during the same period the previous fiscal year. 74 percent of software sales were full game software digital downloads, compared to 53 percent the previous year.
