Famitsu has published its estimated physical game software and hardware sales data for Japan for the week of October 28, 2019 to November 3, 2019.
Persona 5 Royal for PlayStation 4 was the best selling new game last week, moving 201,448 retail copies. To compare, the original Persona 5 launched at 264,793 retail sales on PlayStation 4 and 72,974 sales on PlayStation 3 for a total of 337,767 sales in 2016. Persona 4 Golden, which is to Persona 4 what Persona 5 Royal is to Persona 5, launched at 137,076 sales on PS Vita in 2012.
Luigi’s Mansion 3 for Switch was the second best selling new game last week, moving 150,649 retail copies. To compare, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon (Luigi’s Mansion 2) launched at 110,840 retail sales on 3DS in 2013, and the Luigi’s Mansion remake for 3DS launched at 27,370 sales in 2018.
On the hardware side, the Switch family sold 119,397 units, the PlayStation 4 family sold 8,338 units, and the 3DS family sold 1,070 units. The November 1 release of the Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield-themed Switch Lite contributed to the high Switch Lite sales.
