The latest issue of Weekly Famitsu has officially revealed Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate for PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC. It will launch for PlayStation 4 and Switch in December 2019 in Japan, and for PC in February 2020 for 7,800 yen.
In addition to a standalone release, Koei Tecmo will also release a 4,800 yen “Upgrade Pack” for users who own the original Warriors Orochi 4, which will add the additional elements of the expansion.
It should be noted that while an Xbox One version was not announced in Weekly Famitsu, it is likely planned for the western release. Previous recent Omega Force-developed games did not receive an Xbox One version in Japan.
Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate will include over 170 playable characters from previous titles. Gaia (voice actor unknown) is a completely new playable character that uses a Hecatoncheires as his weapon. In battle, she rides the giant’s arm to move, and attacks by unleashing its infinite arms. She is very powerful—perhaps even more powerful than Zeus.
Joan of Arc (voiced by Yumi Touma) is a returning playable character from Warriors Orochi 3. She first appeared in Bladestorm.
Other additions include new Sacred Treasures, as well as a new cooperative technique called “Musou Switch Combo,” which lets three characters continuously unleash Musou attacks to earn more experience than normal.
The game also further improves upon controls and playability while delving deeper into the story and characters, has a revised user interface, adds side stories, delvers deeper into Odin, enables players to switch Sacred Treasures, and anchors Unique Magic.
Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate is produced by Tomohiko Sho, who was the lead planner of Dynasty Warriors 3 to 6, the director of Dragon Quest Heroes, and the development producer of Dragon Quest Builders 2.
