Azur Lane: Crosswave adds Hood, Yamashiro, Yukikaze, Unicorn, and Long Island; game modes further detailed
The latest on the Azur Lane console game.Compile Heart has updated the official website for Azur Lane: Crosswave with character pages for Hood (voiced by Atsuko Tanaka), Yamashiro (voiced by Ami Koshimizu), Yukikaze (voiced by Kana Yuuki), Unicorn (voiced by Ai Kakuma), and Long Island (voiced by Sachiyo Yoshida), who will appear in the game as playable characters.
Additionally, the company further detailed the game’s various modes:
■ Story Mode
This takes place in a world where the predecessors before you have avoided mass wars, and many of these girls live free lives as “KAN-SEN.”
Fully supervised by Yostar localization and media mix staff! A new story begins from here!
Prologue + Seven Chapters of Fully Voiced Stories
You can save your progress as you play. Aim to reach the end of the story while collecting gear and new party members.
Main quests consist of many battles. If you are playing on a harder difficulty, who you put in your fleet is important.
Multiple Playthroughs System
Cleared stages can be played again as many times as you like at no cost. It is an easy and useful way to gain experience points and A-Points, or to collect gear for your characters.
Also, previously read dialogue will be automatically skipped.
Sub Quests
During the game, sub quests will also occur. In sub quests, characters other than the protagonists Shimakaze and Suruga will be the focus and help paint what is happening in the background of the Joint War Games setting. (Event type is distinguished by its icon color.)
Spend A-Points to Scout Other Characters
A-Points are earned little by little with each victory during the game. You can use them to scout any new character available, or save them up to recruit a character of you like. It is up to you.
It should be noted that, other than Neptune, all KAN-SEN can eventually be added to your fleet by spending A Points.
Secretary ships, battle assistant characters, are voiced in every mode. They will assist the player with their skills during battle.
■ Shop
The Coop Shop and Laboratory
Two familiar faces will run these facilities. Not only can you buy and sell with money, you can also develop blueprints and exchange rewards for goods.
New gear original to the game will also appear.
Dock
Strengthen your character’s gear and skills. Check the status of all members in your fleet.
Inventory
Keep track of your inventory. It displays every item in your inventory. Use this to keep track of your collection.
Gallery Mode
Browse through all of the event scenes, illustrations, and background music that you have seen so far in the game. You can also see your “records” such as how many enemy ships you destroyed.
System
Change an array of settings. Change the game difficulty at any time. The difficulty setting has no effect on the outcome of the story or the rewards you receive, so pick one that is best for you.
■ Extreme Battle Mode
Battle over 100 teams of fearsome foes! A battle-dedicated gameplay mode for hardcore players. There will be some fleets only available after meeting certain requirements.
The fleet names will give clues about how many mass produced ships will be in the battle as well as the boss’ elemental advantages. Use this wisely to organize your fleet.
■ Photo Mode
Shoot every character of the fleet’s vanguard. First, choose a stage and characters, then freely change each characters’ positioning, expression, and motions to create a scene all your own.
*Secretary Warship characters cannot be chosen.
■ Episode Mode
Contains 50-plus sub-stories!
- Hidden Events: Individual pick-ups for each side’s characters, from different Joint War Games from the Story Mode to everyday scenes.
- Unlockable Episodes for Specific Character Combinations: For example, an episode in which Ayanami, Rafi, Javeline, and Z23 appear can be seen by adding those four characters to your fleet. Unlocked events can be re-read as many times as you like.
???
Even that one system appears… with all new voice-overs and production!
Azur Lane: Crosswave is due out for PlayStation 4 on August 29 in Japan, and in 2020 in North America and Europe.
