Final Fantasy VII Remake project lead now co-director; Naoki Yoshida division developing large-scale next-gen project
Minor updates to Square Enix's recruitment websites.Naoki Hamaguchi, who we previously knew as the project lead on Final Fantasy VII Remake, is now a co-director on the project, an update to Square Enix‘s recruitment page for the title reveals. That means Hamaguchi and previously known director Tetsuya Nomura now share the same role.
Nomura has previously compared Hamaguchi’s forme rrole as project lead to the role of Kingdom Hearts III co-director Tai Yasue. Nomura, of course, also directed Kingdom Hearts III.
Additionally, Square Enix’s former 5th Business Division led by Final Fantasy XIV producer and director Naoki Yoshida is now known as the Third Development Division, and is working on a new title for the next generation.
“Based on the former 5th Business Division, the newly established Third Development Division has started work on a new key project following Final Fantasy XIV, taking up a challenge for the next generation,” Yoshida said in a message. “This project has already finished early development, as well as preparation of the development environment, and is now moving into the full-blown, large-scale development phase. The new project is seeking developers who want to deliver both ‘fun’ and ‘enjoyment’ to the world, as well as ‘surprise.’ If you want to challenge the world market, then we look forward to your application.”
The image above featuring the text, “A new project, underway,” has been up on the 5th Business Division recruitment website since 2016.
The Third Development Division is currently seeking planners, designers, programmers, and a project manager to work on the project.
Final Fantasy VII Remake is in development for PlayStation 4.
