Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age: Definitive Edition launches this fall
2D Mode, Japanese voice-overs, and more added.Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age: Definitive Edition will launch for Switch worldwide this fall, Square Enix announced. It will be published by Nintendo in the west and Square Enix in Japan.

Ready for a grand adventure filled with memorable characters, an enchanting story and classic RPG gameplay that can be taken on the go? This definitive version of the critically acclaimed game features the same sprawling content of the original, but with newly added character-specific stories, fully orchestrated field and battle music, and the ability to switch between not only between HD and retro-inspired 16-bit visuals, but also Japanese and English voice track.
Here is the Square Enix Japan’s overview of today’s newly revealed features:
- Switch Between 2D and 3D Graphics – Choose between playing with nostalgic pixelated 2D graphics and beautiful 3D graphics.
- Orchestra Music Added – Switch between the newly added orchestra music and the existing synthesizer music.
- New Stories Added – New stories have been added where each character becomes the protagonist and sets off on an adventure.
Square Enix Japan also announced it will host a “Dragon Quest XI S Channel: New Information Review & Voice Cast Announcement Feature #2″ live stream on March 27 at 21:00 JST where it will go over today’s newly revealed details and announce the latest round of voice actors.
