◆ World
The endlessly-expanding mechanical desert.
The endless desert. Dotted with small countries. It is said that there was once a time when this earth was called the “Water Planet.” To compensate for the exhaustion of resources, humans developed alchemy. However, the supply it produced was by no means sufficient. In order to gain resources and make use of the talented, war broke out again and again. Resources were exhausted, and the talented died. Humanity grew tired. As the sands blown by the wind piled up over time, the despair in the minds of the people increased with the dawn of each morning. At this rate, humanity will be destroyed. That was the thought in everyone’s mind. Then, everyone remembered the old legend passed down to the people of this world.
—In the Desert of Beginnings lies a “Great Power” that can save humanity. This Great Power’s form is unknown. However, what if it really exists? Anything could lie dormant in that desert full of mysterious machines. The small countries each established a investigation group and sent them off to the desert. However, those investigation groups were either annihilated or forced to retreat.
—Mechanical Dolls: battle weapons that run on gears. They are rumored to be the protectors of the Great Power who have taken numerous lives. Nevertheless, humanity treads upon the Desert of Beginnings. Seeking salvation…
◆ Story
Head for the desert in search of the Great Power that can save humanity.
Just under 100 years have passed since the founding of a small kingdom. Quinn Bravesford leads soldiers in battle against enemy nations for the sake of that kingdom. One of the few elites, she was a young and excellent commander that utilized daring tactics. One year, the kingdom announced the deployment of a large-scale investigation group to the Desert of Beginnings. And Quinn was chosen to be the leader of that group.
Today is the day it begins. In just a few hours, Quinn will depart with her comrades. Quinn gazes at the ancient alchemist device called the Luna Gear that she has on hand. Ancient legends say that the Luna Gear, which can be fitted with four types of Orbs, is the key to procuring the Great Power that can save humanity. Quinn’s Luna Gear still only has one orb inserted… however, that is still only a legend. There are those that believe in it, and those that do not.
Despite the threat of the dangerous creatures and Mechanical Dolls wandering the desert, it is said that the enemy nation that is the Principality of Neuhafen recently dispatched an army in search of the Great Power. Bring your comrades back alive from this mechanical desert at all costs. Fight for the hopes of those who believe in the existence of the Great Power. That is your duty as a soldier. Survive with all your might. While Quinn tells this to herself firmly, she is still unable to believe in something as convenient as the Great Power.
