■ Prologue
“Now then, let us begin, Rean—”
“Let us begin the tale of the dark end that will fill the world with despair…”
In the deepest dark, he curled up tightly—.
The radiance was never to return, and a curse was spreading across the empire.
No matter sorry he was, he could never be sorry enough. No matter how many times he asked, he didn’t get an answer.
Unable to protect what was important to him, having committed an irrevocable mistake, he despaired in himself. He even calmly accepted his fate as a “sacrifice.”
That is what had become of Rean Schwarzer, the Ashen Knight.
—And the world was moving toward its end.
The largest military nation in history, the Erebonian Empire, began to swallow up the world in the name of Jormungand…
The world also did the best thing it could in such nightmare circumstances, caught the huge dragon, and began trying to cut its head off.
Understanding both the dark will attempting to realize its long-cherished wish with destructive flames and the objective of the snakes who would stop at nothing to realize the lord’s plan—.
“So you grab them by the lapels if you have to, and make them understand they’re wrong!”
“Isn’t that a role that only we can play?!”
—Those words rekindled the flames of his worn-out soul.
The Erebonian Empire, Thors Military Academy, Class VII.
Gathered from across class, status, and national lines, this is the second generation of the class that is the greatest despite its complicated history.
They will stand—to resist destruction.
They will step forward—to take back the light and their wings.
“Come, let’s ‘all’ see this thing through.”
“Let’s see how this horrible fucking fairy-tale ends.”
■ Characters
Alisa Reinford (voiced by Yui Horie)
A former member of Class VII and the young lady of the Reinford Group, the largest heavy industry corporation in the Empire.
After graduating from Thors Military Academy, she took over for her mother, capitalizing on her management skills. As senior manager of Reinford Group, she worked hard on her daily tasks such as building a collaborative framework with the Epstein Foundation.
When disaster broke out in the Empire, she cooperated with Rean and the others as a former member of Class VII. But in the midst of that, her father who was thought to be dead made a sudden appearance in the Empire and revealed a shocking truth.
At the same time, Sharon who also serves the Reinford Group, bids farewell to Alisa and returns to her former group, the Ouroboros society.
Black Alberich (voiced by Hiroki Yasumoto)
The leader of the Gnomes, which were said to have disappeared behind the scenes of Erebonia’s history. He is accompanied by the strange-looking combat shell “Zoa=Valor.”
After he disappeared several hundreds of years ago, even the Hexen Clan was unable to find a single trace of him, but while the Gnomes changed their appearance to the Black Workshop and hid as part of the Ouroboros society’s engineering network the Thirteen Factories, they gained experience in the manufacturing of numerous weapons, combat shells, and homunculi.
In order to create a disaster that will undermine the Empire, he appears center stage and swears absolute loyalty to the Blood and Iron Chancellor Osborne as Gnome.
His true identity seems to be that of Alisa’s father, but his outward appearance is that of chairman Irina’s dead husband, Franz…?
Irina Reinford (voiced by Yuuko Sumitomo)
Alisa’s mom. Possessing extraordinary management skills, she is the current chairman of Reinford Group.
Feelings of ill will were born between Irina and her daughter due to her father Gwyn being expelled from the group for manufacturing weapons of mass destruction, but during the Civil War, Alisa and the others from the old Class VII liberated Irina, and the discord between mother and daughter gradually died down.
After that, she planned to keep a strict eye on Alisa, who began to help at work, while growing the Reinford Group further with the help of Sharon…
However, when disaster broke out in the Imperial capital, her husband Franz, who was thought to be dead, appears as Black Alberich, causing total chaos among the Reinford family.
Severing Chains Kreuger (voiced by Yukana)
Also known as the Deathly Herald, Sharon is Enforcer No. IX “Severing Chains Kreuger” of the Ouroboros society.
She previously served Reinford Group chairman Irina as an employee of the Reinford family, and also supported Alisa and the rest of Class VII as a flawless super maid.
A law bestowed upon Enforcers stating “appreciate every freedom” is written on their shields, but although she seems to be continuing to distance herself from the society, Black Alberich appears, saying her contract with Irina is complete…
So she returns to the society and as an Enforcer, and points her blade at Alisa.
