Deduction adventure game Buddy Collection if: Shukumei no Akai Ito coming to Switch this spring in Japan
Make "Buddies" and solve a gruesome murder case.
PLiCy is bringing its reasoning adventure game Buddy Collection if: Shukumei no Akai Ito to Switch. It will launch in Japan via the Nintendo eShop this spring for 800 yen.
Buddy Collection is a “reasoning x academy x partner, trust in your buddy and solve the mystery” adventure game. Players will take on the role of protagonist Nagisa, a student who attends a school of detectives, make “Buddies” with problem children, and solve the mystery of a gruesome murder case. For otome fans, there are also romance elements with Buddy characters.
The goal of the game is to solve the case and reach a “Happy End” with your Buddy. All of the endings outside of the Happy End are “Bad Ends.” In other words, the aim is to avoid “Death (Bad End)” from among several choices and reach the “Truth (Happy End)” together with the classmate that becomes your partner. There is one Happy End for each character, and when you reach that Happy End, your relationship with that Buddy will progress a little bit.
Buddy Collection first launched in 2016 as a free-to-play PC game serialized into five episodes. Currently, only two episodes have been released: Episode 1: Red String of Fate and Episode 2: Square Devil. The game won the “Writer Division” award at PLiCy Game Contest 2016 and the excellence award at Tyrano Game Fes 2016, and received high praise from players.
The Switch version, which adds “if” to the title, is based on Episode 1: Red String of Fate, and is said to add considerable volume, including branching routes and special scenarios for each character.

The protagonist (Nagisa) is a high school girl who lost her memory and Buddy in the middle of an operation. She was originally a Special A Class student, but was demoted to an E Class student, which is the lowest possible rank class. E Class is a gathering of problem children who cannot make Buddies with anyone. In order to choose a new Buddy from among them, a camping trip is held. However, an incident occurs during the trip—.
