Square Enix will end service for Figureheads on June 30, the company announced.
The free-to-play robot third-person shooter first launched for PC in Japan on March 11, 2016, followed by PlayStation 4 on March 9, 2017.
According to Square Enix, the majority of Figureheads players leave the game without playing a full match due to reasons such as “robot control difficulty,” “non-simple game rules,” and “slow game speed.” While fixes and new measures saw an increase in players, it did not led to fundamental improvement.
Despite its termination, Square Enix still plans to update the game on March 22 with the new “Colosseum” player-versus-player map and “Mercenary Chapter Story Addition.” This summer, there are also plans to add sports armor and Figureheads for the new company “Harikov Systema.”
During maintenance on March 22, all sales for paid Gold currency will be ceased. (However, all paid items and Gold can still be used until service ends.) Starting June 28 at 12:00 JST, the game client will no longer be available for download. And on June 30 at 16:00 JST, service will officially end.
