Opoona director teases “wonderful announcement” in 10th anniversary tweet

ArtePiazza scenario and game designer, and Opoona director Sachiko Sugimura is teasing a possibly Opoona-related announcement.

In a tweet on November 1, Sugimura said, “It is November 1, 2017. Today is the [28th] anniversary of ArtePiazza’s establishment. And it has also been 10 years since the release of our lifestyle RPG Opoona!! I’ll be making a wonderful announcement in the near future, so please give me a little more time.” The tweet includes the “#opoona” hashtag. Sugimura’s profile image is of her in an Opoona the character outfit.

Sugimura also retweeted a tweet from Japanese outlet Inside Games reporting on the announcement tease. Andhe official ArtePiazza Twitter account also retweeted several tweets congratulating Opoona on its 10th anniversary, with some along the lines of “a wonderful announcement..!? seriously!!?? is a new Opoona coming!!??” and “huh, what is this wonderful announcement!?!? what is this wonderful announcement mentioned in the Opoona 10th anniversary tweet!?!?.”

Opoona was released for Wii in Japan on November 1, 2007. It was published by Koei, now Koei Tecmo, and developed by ArtePiazza. Opoona the character appeared in this year’s Warriors All-Stars for PlayStation 4, PS Vita, and PC as a playable character.
