He comes off as highhandedly, but is actually cheerful and easy-going.
—“Burning Bakken,” a grand pirate who has procured every fortune. He is a lively and good-hearted man who talks kindly to Lydie and Suelle while calling them his henchmen. His treasure is one “so amazing that it couldn’t be valued in money.”
■ Make Superior Items with Skillful Synthesis
The panel-like synthesis system of Atelier Lydie & Suelle sees players inserting ingredients into boxes on a panel. By putting in items that add new effects to the synthesis, such as catalyst and activation items, you can synthesize even more useful items.
Make Skillful Use of Catalyst Bonuses
During synthesis, by putting in items known as catalysts, you can change the amount of panels or manifest catalyst bonus marks that possess special effects onto the panel. Catalyst bonus mark effects only occur when placing ingredients in the proper box, and the placement and effect of the catalyst bonus mark varies depending on the catalyst. Aim to synthesis even better items by skillfully combining synthesis items and catalysts.
—The main types of bonuses consists of an increase / decrease in quality, an increase / decrease in the amount of special characteristics that carry over, an increase / decrease in effect level (the effect bar on the right side of the screen when selecting materials, etc.), an increase / decrease in the amount you can create, etc. It is important to choose the best catalyst based on the items you use for synthesis.
—Depending on the items you use for synthesis, the special characteristics possessed by the ingredients may carry over. By combining things such as catalysts that increase the number of special characteristics that carry over, you may be able to create an even better item.
Utilizing the Effects of Activation Items
There are several types of activation items, and each possesses a different effect. Since there are some activation items that effect every box by their simple use, as well as activation items that change the colors of the boxes, how you place ingredients and which activation items you use is important.
Here we will look at syntheses using the same ingredients and same placements, but with different activation items.
—Here is a situation where an activation item was not used. The colors of the boxes are scattered, and colors unrelated to the effect level can be seen.
—Activation Item Effect: Change
By using an activation item with the “Change” effect, the colors of the all the colored boxes in which ingredients have already been placed will each change to different colors.
—Activation Item Effect: Adjacent Recoloring
When an ingredient has been placed on a colored box, the adjoining boxes of the same color will become the same color. The color change depends on the activation item.
—Activation Item Effect: Insertion
When an ingredient has been placed on a colored box, the squares extending horizontally, vertically, and diagonally from that box will change color. The color change depends on the activation item.
—Activation Item Effect: Total Recoloring
When an ingredient has been placed on a colored box, all of the boxes of the same color as that box will change color. The color change depends on the activation item.
■ Accept Requests from People in the City
Developing your reputation as an atelier is indispensable to increasing your atelier rank. In order to become more famous, Lydie and Suelle go to the bulletin board outside the royal castle with their “Ambitions Notebook” in hand.
Take on All Sorts of Requests
You can accept requests at the bulletin board outside the royal castle, the contents of which are roughly divided into item collection and monster subjugation. By completing requests, you can earn rewards such as money and tools. Do your best not only for the people of Melveille, but also for the rewards and to fill out your Ambitions Notebook.
—1. Accept a Request
There is a bulletin board outside the royal castle where requests are posted. You can accept several requests at once, so choose whichever requests pique your interests.
—2. Handle the Request
Battle against the subjugation target. The area where the target monster resides is written on the request. Complete each request by traveling between the real world and worlds of paintings.
—3. Report Back
After you safely complete a request, return to the receptionist at the bulletin board outside the castle to report its completion and collect your reward.
■ No Matter What Happens, It Will Be OK If You’re With Your Friends
In both the real world and the worlds of mysterious paintings, various difficulties and mysteries will stand in the twins and company’s way. However, in facing these many challenges together, there will prove to be no replacements for the twins’ reliable comrades.
—While searching for ingredients to use for a synthesis, the twins notice frequent thunder in Melveille. Could this be a warning that something bad is going to happen?
—Lydie hears someone’s voice coming from the basement of the atelier, where she and her sister live. A voice that is both gentle and calm…
The Friends that Adventure with the Twins
—Mathias Ferrié Adalett
In order to protect Lydie and Suelle from danger, the older sister-esque Mireille entrusts Mathias to guard the twins. He is hesitant when it comes to strong-looking monsters, so will he be able to get things done when necessary…!?
—Firis Mistlud
The world-traveling alchemist Firis. It would seem that the monster she defeated was the challenge set for the twins’ exam to increase their atelier rank. Her atelier rank is now even higher than the twins’.
—Alt
Alt is a boy shrouded in mystery, who the twins meet during their investigation of the mysterious paintings. Rather than hand over his painting, he offers to come along on their investigation. He is interested in both the worlds of the mysterious paintings, as well as the twins.
—Sophie Neuenmuller
An alchemist who wishes for everyone’s happiness. When Lydie and Suelle try to give up in the face of strong monsters beyond their power, Sophie is there with a smiling face to give the twins a speech.
—No matter the situation, believe in yourself, who has come so far, and your friends, who are reliable and cannot be replaced.
