DMM Games has opened the official website for Gal Metal, providing information and screenshots on the game’s characters and how to play.
Get the details below.
Gal Metal is a drum and rhythm game where characters perform on stage. Unlike other rhythm games, where musical notes fly onto the screen, there are no musical notes in Gal Metal. Gal Metal is a completely new type of music game where players can freely construct their own rhythm to put on a performance. You swing the Joy-Cons to strike the drums as if you are playing air drums. The music genre is heavy metal. The scenario is written by Shuuhou Imai, and the manga scenes are illustrated by Toshinao Aoki. Here’s a preview:
The Protagonist and Rinko Hoshino
Drummer. The male protagonist was fused with the female high school student Rinko Hoshino, and now their spirits co-exist. Rinko has considerable drumming technique, and uses Spartan education methods to teach the protagonist.
Synth. She is a shut-in otaku whose hobbies consist of online games and web browsing. She believes in the existence of UFOs and aliens, and even hacked the FBI in order to investigate the Roswell incident (according to her). She has a wealth of knowledge in regards to sci-fi and the occult.
Bassist. The daughter of the Kurobarain Group. She was raised in a strict household. She loves horror movies and goes to the movie theater often. She becomes more self-assertive after meeting the Metal Club.
Lead guitarist. In one word, she is a delinquent. She is without a father, but has a younger brother who she often takes care of because her mother is busy. She is surprisingly good at cooking and the like. Her guitar was left behind by her father and even now still sleeps beside her.
Rhythm guitarist. She is shy and has social anxiety. She usually wears glasses, but since she removes them during concerts, she can barely see. She is OK to play concerts in public when she cannot see. Her entire family is fat, but she is the only skinny one.
■ Game Guide
Gal Metal! is a game where you save the earth using the power of metal.
In order to save the planet, you must fight against alien invaders using metal power, which the aliens are weak against. You can build up metal power by playing heavier metal.
Put on a metal performance by swinging around the left and right Joy-Cons.
- When swinging the left Joy-Con, the snare drum will sound.
- When swinging both Joy-Cons, the cymbal will sound.
- When swinging the right Joy-Con, the kick drum will sound.
Freely combine rhythm patterns to put on a performance.
First, practice and learn a rhythm pattern. There are various patterns, from simple patterns to more difficult patterns. They are easy for beginners to get into, as well as loaded with challenging elements that even advanced users can enjoy.
You can freely combine the rhythm patterns you have learned to put on a performance and make the metal more exciting. If you only use the same rhythm, you score will not increase. Be sure to combine various rhythms in various patterns to earn a combo bonus.
Gal Metal is due out for Switch in Japan in February 2018.
