Square Enix debuted 28 minutes of gameplay footage from Final Fantasy Explorers-Force during a Tokyo Game Show 2017 stage event.
In Final Fantasy Explorers-Force, players will become a Soldier of FORCE, an army belonging to the International Peace Alliance. You will be able to choose from a large variety of jobs—including Knight, Archer, Dragoon, White Mage, Monk, Black Mage, Thief, and Time Mage—as well as customize your appearance and equipment. Each job has set weapons that can be equipped, and there are different abilities each weapon type. In the beginning, you will only be able to equip weapons specific to your job, but as your Job Level increases, you will be able to equip a maximum of four weapons from other Jobs.
Classic Final Fantasy characters such as Cloud, Squall, Tidus, Vaan, and Lightning will also appear. By using the power of the Crystal FORCE, players will be able to Trance (transform) into these characters, which not only changes their appearance, it also changes their voice and the background music. Summons beasts will appear as formidable foes, including Titan, Fenrir, Ramuh, Ifrit, Diabolos, and Bahamut.
In the lobby, players can take on quests, change jobs, abilities, and equipment, and interact with other players through emotes and stamps.
Final Fantasy Explorers-Force is due out for iOS and Android in Japan in 2017. Square Enix announced at Tokyo Game Show 2017 that a closed beta for Android will begin soon.
