Yakuza: The Song of Soul live-action drama airs November 30
New series follows a group of delinquents in Kamurocho. The new Yakuza series live-action drama teased earlier this month is called Yakuza: The Song of Soul and will begin airing on the Geo Channel in Japan on November 30, Sega announced at Sega Fes 2016.
The title is similar to the subtitle of Yakuza 6, which is The Song of Life, but the live-action drama is not a live-action version of the game. Rather, it depicts a completely original story of a group of young men who look up to legendary yakuza Kazuma Kiryu and come from Onomichi to Kamurocho in order to rise up in the world.
Kan Eguchi is supervising the series, and the theme song is being done by Japanese reggae band Shonan no Kaze.
According to Yakuza series general supervisor Toshihiro Nagoshi, Kazuma Kiryu will not appear in the drama at all (only by name).
The cast includes Shono Hayama, Shoudai Fukuyama, Mai Tezuka, Kazuya Takahashi, and supervisor Kan Eguchi.
