Kojima shares new tidbits at Sony's pre-Tokyo Game Show 2016 event.

Death Stranding is an open world action game, Kojima Productions boss Hideo Kojima announced at the 2016 PlayStation Press Conference in Japan.

According to Kojima, the E3 2016-announced PlayStation 4 game will let players enjoy the freedom of exploring an open world while still employing a story.

Additionally, while he didn’t go into detail, Kojima emphasized the connection between players—not one that involves fighting each other—but rather a unique online element not seen before Death Stranding.

A release date for Death Stranding has yet to be announced.
