Bethesda Softworks and id Software announced the first DOOM multiplayer downloadable content, called “Unto the Evil,” during the Bethesda E3 2016 press conference.
The add-on will add three new maps—“Offering,” “Cataclysm,” and “Ritual”—as well as a new demonic enemy called the “Harvester,” a new gun, equipment item, taunts, armor sets, and more.
Additionally, Bethesda announced that DOOM‘s level creator, SnapMap, will receive free updates in the form of new construction models, props, weapons, and items, as well as allow users to create their own single-player experiences.
Two free new modes will also arrive next month. “Exodus” is a “uniquely DOOM variant of one-flag capture-the-flag.” And “Sector” is a new “multi-zone capture-and-hold mode.” Later this summer, Bethesda will release three free-for-all modes, including “Classic Deathmatch.”
Finally, Bethesda also announced that for the next week, the first level of DOOM will be free to download for all players across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
