Focus Home Interactive and Lords of the Fallen developer Deck13 Interactive have released the first screenshots of upcoming action RPG The Surge.
The Surge is set on a dystopian Earth nearing the end of its life after accelerating advancements in technology and abuse of the environment led to an overly decadent civilization. The game features “innovative” combat mechanics and a unique character progression system based on modular upgrades “gained through tight, visceral combat.”
The images released today introduce the game’s hero, who is equipped with an exoskeleton that serves as the your base to upgrade your equipment. When fighting enemies, you can target specific parts or limbs to recover specific pieces of armor, weapons, or equipment to attach to your own exoskeleton. The best parts are hardest to cut off and are usually attached to the most dangerous enemies.
The Surge is due out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2017.
